Online Shopping Discounter Adds Hundreds of Health and Personal Care Products

Posted by Sandra on - -

Online Shopping
Online good deal shopping for health and personal care products just got a whole lot easier, with this latest product range at the famous discount department store Only Online.

People like online shopping at discount departments stores, because the costs are low, the range of products is wide-ranging, and you can save more money by combining shipping prices. That's why it's good to see that OO has freshly expanded their range, to contain hundreds of health and personal care things, just like a discount online chemist store.

The latest products are listed in the Health & Beauty department at OO, under Cosmetics & Skin Care, First Aid, Health and Medicines,Wellbeing, and Personal Care. I browsed around the new product collection and found famous brands like Nurofen, Strepsils, Lemsip, Blackmores, Optifast, Nicorette, Gillette, Elastoplast, and many more.

You can browse the product categories to get what you want, but I found it easier to search for a particular product, band name, or symptom/condition. Filtering search results by brand doesn't seem to be active yet for these fresh products, but you can simply filter by cost range. To give you some examples, I searched for 'Nurofen', and filtered the cost range to below $10, and I also got fine search results when I searched for 'headache' and 'flu'.

Online vs in store who is success in the retail war

Posted by Sandra on - -

online shoppingOnline shopping may not pose a threat to high street retail according to a fresh survey.

Several retailers say they are frustrated with a raising trend of shoppers trying goods in-store than buying online.

But this may not be as general as first thought. The newest Fly Buys Shopping Intentions Poll has found that 72 percent of Kiwis get goods in-store after researching and trying goods in-store.

It also shows that half of New Zealanders use the online to do research before buying goods and 52 percent of those go on to buy in-store.

Fly Buys Chief Executive Lance Walker says the poll further proves Kiwis like to shop around for the greatest deal.
“The majority of Kiwis are inclined to shop around, particularly for higher priced things to benefit from sales advice, and then buy the one that suits them, in a store, for reasons such as the better consumer experience,” Mr Walker says.

Of those who prefer to buy in store, 30 percent say it is due to cost, 23 percent say the top reason is due to a better customer experience, another 23 percent say the top reason is convenience.Cost is the most important driver for online shopping.

Department Store Giant Myer Launch Online Shop

Posted by Sandra on - -

Online ShopThe department store giant Myer has been a famous destination for several shoppers around Australia for the better part of 100 years, and with the launch of the Myer online shopping store previous month, I've decided to checkout the store and write a review.

In an editorial I read at Smart House Mr Brookes CEO of Myer, told that Myer was creating the fresh site out of frustration over a lack of action from the federal government over GST-free shopping online. I'm a little sceptical in believing that GST free shopping was the only basis, I simply can't get that many products listed on the new Myer store over $1000.

Anyway, this editorial isn't about the GST debate. It's about the great store Myer has launched regardless of the reasons why it was built. It's fantastic to see a large well known traditional store embrace the online shopping revolution and lastly launch an online store. I've been waiting for big companies like Myer for at least a decade, and it appears that they are finally waking up to the fresh way Australians do their shopping Online.

At the Myer Gift Shop you'll find a whole gamut of ways to browse the store, shop by categories including Women, Men, Kids & Toys, Electrical, Homewares, and more. In each of these major departments, there's also navigation filters where you can further define your browsing by selecting brands, and sub departments such as a Gaming unit under the main Electrical unit.

online shopping
The days of shopping online, tax-free may be coming to a finish.

A latest bill on Beacon Hill could force e-commerce sites like Amazon, Overstock and Zappos to charge Massachusetts shoppers sales tax. Local retailers say the Web sites have an unfair benefit.

By Commonwealth, the sales tax loss in 2012 is projected to be $335 million.

Similar bills passed in New York, Rhode Island, and Illinois.

The online shopping companies are resisting. Overstock.com President Jonathan Johnson said The Boston Globe laws forcing his company to gather sales tax are "unconstitutional and short-sighted."

Online shopping expenses the government and businesses big

Posted by Sandra on - -

Online shopping
Online shopping from foreign sites is costing the government and Australian retailers millions of dollars every day. But it’s hard to see what can be done to ease the burden.

The Internet has enriched our lives in a multitude of different ways. Who’d have thought that one day we’d have the earth at our fingertips and be able to converse, watch TV, listen to music, play games, apply for jobs, seek for new houses, and nearly everything else you can believe of online at a moment’s notice. And who would have thought you could order everything from groceries to cars on the Internet, either?

Millions of people are currently using online shopping sites to order things they want or need. And a lot of of the websites they’re using aren’t even located in Australia. Which is a large boon for budget-conscious shoppers, but not so great for the federal government and home-grown retailers, both of whom are losing cash from the practice.

The trouble, as noted by a fresh survey, is that by buying abroad and having an item shipped in, a shopper can avoid having to give the 10 percent Goods and Services tax that Australian businesses usually pass on to consumers. If the product being shipped to the countryside has a value of less than $1,000, it is exempt from both GST and import duties.

Google goes online shopping for easy to find online shopping bargains

Posted by Sandra on - -

Google has refreshed its Commerce seek with Search as You Type features, Local Product Availability, product spell checking and product recommendations - all of which translates into a better and easier online shopping knowledge for customers.

The third generation Google Commerce Search provides shoppers a more customizable way to search for products on the web and with their smart phone while also helping to "create an even more interactive and engaging familiarity for shoppers and retailers," said Google in a March 29 blog post.

Customers will start to notice the changes on sites from Forever21, General Nutrition Company and L'Occitane, three of Google's latest retail partners as well as existing online retailer partners like BabyAge, Woodcraft Supply and HealthWarehouse.

Technology blog Fast Company suspects the changes are paving the way for "a rich NFC [near field communication] enabled online shopping experience somewhere down the line."

"If shoppers in real stores had access to this kind of rich data, accessed via Google's engine through local NFC tags instead of online hunt parameters, then they'd also profit from the same sort of assisted shopping experience," said Fast Company.

Online shopping products is on the top

Posted by Sandra on - -

Online shoppingOnline shopping is quickly becoming the way customers are acquiring their products, according to Sarah Cordey, spokeswoman for the British Retail Consortium (BRC).

One of the appealing aspects of shopping online is the simple availability of prices which allows consumers to compare them, Ms Cordey added.

"What we're increasingly seeing is both stores and customers making utilize of both online services and high street services," she said following a report from the Comet which showed 84.38 per cent of customers seek online for discounts and deals while 57.97 per cent of consumers shop online for clothes.

"Online information makes it easier for customers, for example, to balance prices, but some shoppers will still then choose to go into a store to make their buy in person and speak to a sales assistant," she added.

She went on to say that a big deal of large businesses are currently online and consumers regard the brick-and-mortar shop working together with its online counterpart, another factor that contributes to people going online as they trust the brand.

Branded stores starting showrooms for online shopping

Posted by Sandra on - -

online shopping
As luxury retailers rush to open fresh stores in China, are these branded stores starts showrooms for online shopping?

With the Chinese middle rank not much more than a decade old, Chinese consumerism is developing in the age of the online and is developing in a special way than Western consumers might expect.

Mulligan’s firm researches online customer activity in Shanghai, China’s most advanced consumer marketplace. DDMA thinks that the habit of Shanghai customers will predict behavior of consumers across the country.

Based on this study, DDMA has known several factors driving Chinese customers to purchase online. The most significant of these include location, poor sales employees, and perceived reliability of goods.

As Chinese cities develop, retailers have been unable to keep up with urban sprawl. Several young Chinese families are locating in “dormitory suburbs” areas with lots of affordable housing but only some retail outlets. And not only do lengthy commutes into town make online shopping attractive to customers online orders often include a delivery speed that seems “instant” to Western shoppers.

Nokia MD-11 mini speakers

Posted by Sandra on - -

minispeakersThe fine folks at WOMWorldNokia also gave me the MD-11 mini speaker to try out as well. Currently this little monster really packs quite a punch. Powered by just 3 AAA batteries, you can actually go quite loud before you begin to experience any distortion.

The 3.5mm jack means you can plug it in almost anywhere. I tried it on desktop, ipad and the N8 and the sound quality is outstanding. I know its mono but i believe if you have two of them you can turn it to stereo. Couldn't truly try as i only had just the one to try.

The little form factor also makes it a bit easy to carry around on your travels. Who needs a big boombox when you can carry your mobile phone and the MD-11 for all your musical entertainment needs.

Innovative Rules to increase your faith in Gift Cards

Posted by Sandra on - -

Innovative Shopping Rules:

Those shopping for prepaid gift cards this holiday season will do so with a recent law that makes the use of such cards less frustrating.

Not long ago, many of these popular one-size-fits-all presents were subject to periodic service fees, such as inactivity charges and transaction fees. Some had expiration dates that recipients thought were unfairly early. There was no standard rule governing them.

But as of Aug. 22, when the federal Credit Card Act of 2009 took effect, that all changed.

The new law limits fees and extends expiration dates. It targets gift cards with a Visa, American Express, MasterCard and Discover brand logo, those cards that typically included fees and expiration dates. But the law also applies to store gift cards, though they rarely incurred fees.

The act makes using the cards more consumer-friendly, said Jennifer Tramontana, spokeswoman for the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association, an industry organization based in New Jersey.

Here's a look at what the law means to you.

-Fees

Before: If you misplaced a card and found it months later or if you postponed using it till you found the perfect new outfit, much of the funds may have been depleted due to lack of use. Even if you used the card periodically but didn't spend the full amount, service fees likely were subtracted from the funds, leaving a smaller balance than you expected.

Now: Under the new rules, no service fees can be charged until the card has been inactive for 12 months. After that period, the card can be charged only one fee a month.

- Expiration dates

Before: If you misplaced your gift card, it could have expired by the time you found it.

Now: These cards are good for at least five years from date of purchase or at least five years from the date you last added money to it.

- Replacement cards

If you lose your card, you can get a free replacement. Also, if the card's expiration date has passed but it contains unspent money, you can request a replacement at no cost. You must have registered the card to get a replacement.

- Disclosures

All fees and expiration dates have to be disclosed on the card or its packaging. Additionally, a toll-free number and website, for questions and to check balances, must be included on the cards.

- Exceptions

The new rules apply only to prepaid store gift cards (to be used at a certain retailer) and Visa, American Express, MasterCard and Discover gift cards. They do not apply to other types of prepaid cards, including those used as a checking-account or debit-card substitute. Gift cards given as a promotion or reward, such as a restaurant gift card given as a promotion for test-driving a car, are excluded.
User habits vary

The new law is good news to Mesa resident Nicole Cardwell, who said she previously avoided buying Visa or MasterCard gift cards because of all the potential fees. She had once misplaced a gift card; when she finally found it, inactivity charges had reduced the balance.
