Several retailers say they are frustrated with a raising trend of shoppers trying goods in-store than buying online.

But this may not be as general as first thought. The newest Fly Buys Shopping Intentions Poll has found that 72 percent of Kiwis get goods in-store after researching and trying goods in-store.

It also shows that half of New Zealanders use the online to do research before buying goods and 52 percent of those go on to buy in-store.

Fly Buys Chief Executive Lance Walker says the poll further proves Kiwis like to shop around for the greatest deal.
“The majority of Kiwis are inclined to shop around, particularly for higher priced things to benefit from sales advice, and then buy the one that suits them, in a store, for reasons such as the better consumer experience,” Mr Walker says.

Of those who prefer to buy in store, 30 percent say it is due to cost, 23 percent say the top reason is due to a better customer experience, another 23 percent say the top reason is convenience.Cost is the most important driver for online shopping.
