Meaning of leather.
Leather is the skin of an animal which has
been fully removed of hair. The skin goes through a complex and difficult
process involving tanning, soaking, and cleaning before it can be formally
called leather. Man has been using leather for over three thousand years,
making it one of the most very old materials used as a tool. Before the advent
of tanning, very old man would generally dress himself in the pelts of animals
he had caught and killed. This raw pelt would eventually decompose, and he
would be left to find another appropriate animal to make clothing out of.
Because of tanning, man was able to protect the hides of the animals he caught
or tamed, and prevent any sort of rotting from occurring, for a reasonably long
period of time at least. This is done by removing the attendance of fat and
water, substances that cause it to decay over time, in the skin.
What creates Italian leather so special?
Italian leather is generally hand-crafted and
tooled to give you the best excellence. Much time and care is put into making
the leather as tough, weather-tight, and beautiful as it can be. At every stage
of the tanning process, the leather is experienced to make sure it is up to normal.
The process by which it is made, though having benefited from modern
technology, remains basically the same as it has been for the last three
thousand years. Why mess with a winning produce, after all?
What do I notice for in an Italian leather
jacket?

a very rich and musky, earthy smell, and the scent of the chemicals used to
treat the leather should have dissolute by the time the product is ready to be
sold.

of water should bead on the exterior of the leather and not seep through it at
all.
